Following completion of the LLB and prior to the LPC commencing in September, I went on placement with regional firm Farleys LLP. I requested a position spanning two practice areas of particular interest: Corporate Insolvency and Commercial Property. Whilst working in the latter I prepared first drafts of commercial leases and carried out research for a client seeking to avoid the imposition of a restrictive covenant on their freehold. My work with the insolvency team also involved research tasks and resulted in two articles that I wrote being published on the Farleys LLP website (albeit under the name of my supervisor). These were on the proposed changes to the law on Pre-pack Administrations and the enforceability of Retention of Title clauses.
